ALEXSON CALAHAN
Small Adventures Communications is led by Alexson Calahan, who has nearly 20 years of experience in communications research, planning, implementation and evaluation. She holds degrees in Marketing and Management from Drake University, as well as a Master's of Communication Leadership from Drake University. Much of her work centers around health care communications and focused on simplifying complex medical issues for patient education. Her professional experience includes time at leading local and national non-profit organizations, a marketing agency, and the sales department for a regional news leader.
She has led national and local public relations campaigns, securing key media wins including GMA, Today, USA Today, Dr. Radio, CNN, CNN en Español, NPR as well as niche outlets.
Alexson is a member of Heart of Des Moines, a coalition of consultants serving non-profit organizations. She also volunteers with the Girl Scouts and Urbandale Public Art Committee.
She is an introvert who loves exploring, campfires and reading with her children.
